In 2014, we joined forces with Social Bite to help with their aim of ending homelessness in Scotland for good. Since then, our members have donated thousands of meals for the homeless, raised over £2.7 million and helped build the first Social Bite village in Edinburgh, now we’re excited to be partnering with Social Bite on their Break The Cycle campaign to help build two brand new villages.
The Social Bite Village is an innovative, highly supportive community that accommodates up to 20 people affected by homelessness year-round. It brings vacant land back to use with a village of prefabricated housing and a community hub, where tailored support and skills-building is provided to help people build a positive life and future for themselves.
The first Social Bite village was launched in Edinburgh in 2016 with the help of donations from thousands of generous itison members. The results have been incredible and now Social Bite is looking to raise £1million to build two brand-new villages in Glasgow and London.
Break the Cycle takes place on Sunday 5th September, setting off from the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow. Teams will be pedalling a 60-mile route across Scotland’s central belt, finishing just along from the flagship Social Bite village.
Running alongside the cycling event is a UK wide virtual challenge so everyone can get involved: no matter your age or ability. And you can sign up now!
And the winner is....
We will announce the winners on Monday 5th July 2021. Good luck!
