We have visited before for afternoon tea and enjoyed the experience. An obvious lack of staff made this visit less enjoyable.

We arrived at Dunalastair Hotel Suites with high expectations but unfortunately the staff let it down. The hotel is lovely and the food was delicious. The staff were very unfriendly and unwelcoming. When we arrived they did not greet us we had to say we were here for the afternoon tea. To which a young man was to take us down to the lounge. He disappeared and we were left wandering around until we found what we thought was the lounge and thankfully it was. The food was lovely but we were not told what the different items were. We had to wait ages for the sweet items to be served. No new side dish was provided, even though the ones we were using had the residue of the haggis bon bons and toasted cheese on it. I had to cover my side plate with the napkin to put my scone on and the other little cakes. No replacement knife to spread the scone either so that had to be wiped on the paper napkin. We were not asked if we wanted anymore coffee or tea which is usually customary so had to ask for hot water. Really disappointed with the customer service it really let the experience down. We felt it may be because we had itison vouchers. We regularly use itison vouchers and if we like the place would then return for a meal or overnight stay. We regularly go out for afternoon tea and we all agreed taking everything into consideration this was probably the poorest one we have been too. We would definitely not be back and would not recommend it anyone else. I feel that the hotel needs to invest greatly in staff training.

The hotel is lovely and very relaxing. We were a bit taken aback on arrival when we were told that we did not have a booking, luckily I had received a confirmation email a few days before. We were told someone had left and hadn't written it down. I didn't think two extra for an afternoon tea would cause much problems but it felt a bit awkward and uncomfortable for us. One vegetarian - definitely not 5 star sandwiches. Some bread with thick cut tomatoes and cucumber made up two of them and a strange cheese and onion spread on the other two, my husband ate them, I was disappointed. The shop bought scones were fine and decent selection of sweet treats. Overall not a 5 star afternoon tea

Superb afternoon tea, the food was plentiful and of excellent quality. The staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble to even changing our table to sit outside in the courtyard. Would certainly give Dunalastair Hotel Suited top rating on all fronts

We had the afternoon tea with prosecco...the staff were very helpful we felt very pampered. The "tea" came in 2 stages firstly we had the savoury selection including small cup of soup, haggis bon bons, hot cheesy toast rarebit and then sandwiches followed by the sweet section which included macarons, red velvet cake, scones with jam and cream, and banana cake. All very moreish. Would definitely recommend.
