Only slight criticism is that it’s quite cramped. I understand it’s a popular restaurant but even one less 2 person table would make a big difference.

111 By Modou really cares about food, very part of the meal was a work of art and simply the best taste. Highly recommended for any occasion. Perfection in food.

It was better than expected. Courses explained and good service. Only gripe and it was tiny. Music a bit too loud and also background music more suitable rather than soul.

Food, service and the way food was well beyond what we expected, would not think twice about recommending it

The menu was great - enough choice for even a fussy eater and staff are willing to accommodate individual tastes. I tried foods I wouldn't have otherwise and everything tasted amazing. The portions seem small but after 5 courses I was stuffed. The only criticism was the temperature. It was very warm in the restaurant and the tables are close together. It was uncomfortably warm because it was warm outside. It was worth it for the food though. I'll definitely be back!

From the moment we were greeted at the entrance to being seated ,the attention to detail was 1st class. The dishes were clearly explained with a knowledge that the ingredients exceptional.
A great place and food . Decor was subtle and the open cooking area was a great addition to our experience.

We've been to 111 a few times now and had a great experience. However we just felt last night fell a bit short of what we expected for a few reasons, particularly the food. The restaurant was very busy indeed (fully booked). There were 3 people on the tables/greeting etc with another person behind the bar and 1 in the open kitchen and, while they were working their socks off and couldn't have been more pleasant, it looked like they could have used more help.
Our initial drinks took a while to arrive, despite being promised that they were on their way. No big deal but prefer having an aperitif while we look at the menu. More revenue for a restaurant too.
The gazpacho was really lovely, praise indeed from someone who is not fond of cold soup. The confit duck was first class, in a very tasty, intense savoury broth too, really enjoyed that.
Our third course was a little disappointing on two counts, we sent the short ribs back because what we got was essentially a big lump of unrendered fat with little to no meat. This was removed quickly and politely by a member of staff and another portion provided which was of the standard expected and said to be very enjoyable.
We had also been advised there were no clams due to a supplier issue and the alternative dish involved mussels which was fine. However when this dish arrived, the pasta was warm (not hot) but the mussels were cold, not just cool but chilled cold as if they'd been thrown on top of the pasta rather than heated through with it.
When it came to the fourth course, one of us was served monkfish cheek when porcini had been ordered. We were told to just keep the monkfish anyway and the porcini dish would also be provided which it was, garnished with raw white mushrooms (not the tastiest mushroom and certainly not in its raw state). Felt this dish was a bit samey, especially with gnocchi which were a bit heavy, and this was from a mushroom lover and I appreciate that is just personal taste. The flat iron was declared very tasty indeed.
Cheese and pud were great, the little pollen meringue was delicious.
We enjoyed our evening, the staff and service were great and hopefully this was a one off as we look forward to returning to the restaurant in the future.
