The Glenburn Hotel would have been very grand back in the day. It's a bit tired in places but don't let this put you off. The hotel is clean and the beds are so comfortable. The food is great. But what really makes this is the staff. Couldn't do enough for you. Especially Michael. Waiter by summer and painter in the hotel by winter. Will definitely be back to see how he got on.

This hotel looked great in the pics but sadly the reality is somewhat different. The rooms are tired. The evening meals were good. The breakfast in the ‘canteen’ like restaurant were ok. Staff were all nice & welcoming. Seemingly there is to be a large refurbishment over the winter. It will need to be large to bring it up to a good standard.

We stayed one night and had dinner in the hotel. The food was lovely and the staff were very pleasant. We had a problem with the door to our room and it was fixed before we got back from breakfast, excellent service.

We had a lovely time there. The staff were very helpful, the service was great and the food was very nice. Fantastic views from the balcony. It was a bonus for us that we could take our dog with us and she enjoyed all the attention from other residents and staff.

Initially we were allocated a rear first floor room with frosted glass windows that you couldn't see through and were very dirty. We were however able to slide up the bottom sash window a couple of inches to reveal noisy air conditioning plant right outside the window. In addition there was two single beds in the room.
We complained at reception but was told there was one spare room on the second floor which was a room at the front with a sea view. There was however a surcharge of £20 per night for the room. We agreed to pay the extra but on opening the door were exasperated to find the room was in the middle of redecoration works with dust sheets and paint tins everywhere.
Going back to reception again we were advise that following a "last minute cancellation" - aye right! for a rear room on the third floor.
After struggling to get into the room due a dodgy lock we got access. The room at least into the room. The toilet/shower room was in a dirty condition with faeces on the toilet seat and in the bowl. The toilet had a very strong damp smell with bad smells from the shower plug hole especially when you ran water in the adjacent wash hand basin.
As with the other two rooms the room had two single beds.
On a positive note my wife and I were very happy with the food in the hotel both for dinner and breakfast. Also the beds were comfortable so no complaint there.
Back to negative items the door lock continued to be a nightmare as the key refused to unlock the lock. It generally took up to five minutes fumbling with the key to unlock the door.
Car parking at the hotel is very very limited to about 12 cars and one coach. Both evenings when we returned to the hotel all spaces were taken and I had to park on the steep narrow street leading up to the hotel.
Sorry the hotel is a typical victorian elderly lady which is showing its age in areas with tired carpets and wall coverings.
So...food good...rooms very poor. Staff were very friendly.

We went with friends, it’s a beautiful old hotel in a beautiful location with the most amazing views. But sadly both rooms were very tired and in much need of a revamp.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was good, but did take a while for food to be replaced, but we were in no rush so didn’t really bother us.
