We have had several short breaks at The Craiglynne Hotel in the past and on this occasion we found the hotel has improved in a number of ways. Staff were very helpful and attentive, our dining experience was very good both at dinner and breakfast where a new breakfast buffet ensured food was hot and there was a good choice. The room we had seemed more modern but friends were in one of the older rooms which could still benefit from modernising. Overall we could see that efforts were being made to improve the customer experience.

Hotel looks stunning from the outside . But inside it is tired and in need of decoration . Not ideal for disabled either as no ramps for wheelchair or mobility aids. Staff were all lovely and friendly tho . Bedroom was depressing being dark and looking out onto an area full of rubbish .
Restaurant food disappointing . Same menu both nights . Breakfast both mornings poor. Self service and food cold . Bacon dried out . Scrambled eggs floating in liquid and sausages pale and undercooked . Tattie scones burned. Again all staff very nice . Very large coach parties there so it was busy at brekkies time .

It wasn't quite what we expected. The room was very cold although there were two heaters but as I suffer from dry eyes I found the room to be very stuffy and the atmosphere 'dry'. I had to bring the car rug in for the second night so I was warm enough in the bed.
The bath was chipped and the bathroom could have done with being totally renovated. I killed 2 spiders!
Having said all that on the positive side the breakfast was good as too was our meal on the first evening.
We also appreciated being able to change our original booking because I had a tummy bug.

Excellent value for the price.
Internally, upgrading is required but that is offset by the price

The room was very spacious and warm. Had a nice evening meal and breakfast. It was good value for money.

Firstly, the staff were excellent! Everyone we spoke to was really friendly and helpful. The food was okay and the hotel was really clean.
However, we wouldn’t choose to stay here again because of the condition of the hotel. It needs major investment and a full renovation.
Its full of mismatched, sagging furniture, windows have been repainted so many times they don’t open and the rooms are extremely basic.
The shower didn’t work in our first room, so we were moved (again, the staff were lovely and very accommodating) and our second rooms bathroom light didn’t work so we had to shower using out phones as a torch.

Prefect, it was everything we asked for. Friendly staff, breakfast was outstanding. It would have been nice to have mugs instead of the cups as they were on the small side, in the room. It was perfect for our dog.
