Public areas and location lovely.
Staff nice.
In Restaurant we ordered same soup to start it was like one portion between 2.
Food selection is good but mains are average and way over priced.
Rooms in modern annexe part awfull.
Refurbished on the cheap as all the money spent on lovely public areas.
When u entered corridor it had an odour of care home and sure the mattress springs poking up.

My husband and I had a great experience at The George Hotel. Our room was a good size with a view f the river and the old bridge and looked to have been recently refurbished and tastefully furnished and included a large flat screen tv. The en-suite was modern with large walk-in shower and nice soft towels. The breakfast was very good and the evening meals were lovely too. The staff were friendly and helpful. We would certainly award it 5 out of 5.

We had a lovely stay. Staff were outstanding - so very friendly and approachable. My dog was most welcome - made my stay particularly relaxing - no pet anxieties. Room was perfect - beds were very comfortable and everything was working. No complaints whatsoever! Terrific value for the voucher.

The en-suite was smelly, tap at sink was too hard to turn on and the sink was all cracked and filled with silicone.

I remember this hotel from years ago and it was lovely to return . It is undergoing change and renovation but looking all the better for it with a lovely dining room and bar. I know the menu is next in line for change and the bedrooms will be updated too . Our stay was comfortable and the staff were great , so friendly and helpful . We took our dog and had a ground floor room with easy access to the outside . A great value couple of nights .

The staff were brilliant, food in the restaurant lovely, but the room had mould on the ceiling in the bathroom and the leisure facilities were very poor. The sauna was out of action and the jacuzzi was colder than the pool!
The location was great.

Great stay. The hotel is in a great position for exploring Hadrian’s wall , several Roman forts, Hexham and other tourist attractions. Room was lovely with a view over the garden to the nearby river and bridge. Everything was clean and in good shape as locals tokd us the hotel had tecently reopened after a big reburf. The room had everything we needed for a short break. The shower was the best of any we have had in hotels with good wayer pressure and good temperature control. The menu is not the most extensive and it is not fancy food but was well cooked and tasty. Breakfast was all self service and there was a cokd and hot buffet. Only had fried eggs but menu on wall said scrambled eggs do maybe if I had asked I could have ordered scrambled.
Staff all friendly and helpful. Swimming pool area could be upgraded but I still valued the opportunity to swim.
